BABALON, the February image in my Magical Calendar project, is now available.
BABALON documents a powerful figure, tracing her roots through the Sumerian Inanna, Babylon the Great in the Biblical Book of Revelation, Aleister Crowley’s BABALON through Jack Parsons and beyond.
The original image for February is a mixed media piece consisting of layer after layer of photocollage, acrylic paint, gouache, Marshall’s Photo Oils, india ink, charcoal and photo transfers.

This is an unfinished collaboration between myself and Stephen Kasner.  We had been in contact for a few years when the idea was put forward that we work on some pieces together.  He started building up some backgrounds on heavy paper and mailed them to me.  I went to work over the top with photocollage, photo transfers, acrylic paint and oil pastels.
I took forever preparing to mail the pieces back - I kept putting them aside and coming back, a bit unsure of what I’d done.  In the meantime, Kasner disappeared from public view.  This piece is the furthest along out of all of the unfinished pieces.
